Apex Firmware Ver. 4.20 download and installation instructions


You are about to download Neptune Systems’ firmware version 4.20.  The links to the firmware are at the bottom of this page. However, this interface is a dramatic departure from the current user interface, and the directions to update to this firmware are a bit more involved than in the past.  Please read these instructions very carefully and follow them to the letter.

  1. Click on the link at the bottom of the page for you operating system (PC or Mac).
  2. Be sure to refer to our Quick-start firmware guide for directions on how to update your firmware:  Quick-Start Firmware Guide 
  3. Do NOT attempt to update the firmware wirelessly- you must have a hard-wired Ethernet connection between computer and router and router and Apex
  4. Be sure to disable any anti-virus or firewall software for the update
  5. After updating the firmware and the web pages as you normally would, you must clear the browsing cache history of your web browser before you try to access the controller’s web-server.  If you need assistance with this, then a quick internet search of “How do I clear your browser cache history,” will yield many results.  Here are some directions for the most popular internet browsers:
Google Chrome (the preferred/recommended browser for your Apex)
    1. Click the Chrome menu   on the browser toolbar
    2. Select Tools
    3. Select Clear Browsing Data
    4. In the dialog that appears, select Empty Browser Cache
    5. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data you want to delete.  Select beginning of time to delete everything
    6. Click Clear browsing data
Mozilla Firefox
    1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the “Firefox” button (Tools in Windows XP) then click “Options”
    2. Select the Advance Panel
    3. Click on the “Network” tab
    4. In the “Cached Web Content” section, click “Clear Now”
Internet Explorer 9
    1. Click the “gear” at the top right to open you settings menu
    2. Click Safety
    3. Delete Browsing History
    4. Select Temporary Internet Files
    5. Uncheck all other boxes
    6. Click the Delete button on the bottom
Safari (on Mac)
    1. Click on the “Safari” Menu
    2. Select Empty Cache
    3. Click Empty
