Features

Designed to deliver confidence at every step, Trident and Trident NP reagents combine strict production standards, rigorous calibration, clear labeling, and simple replacement workflows. From small-batch manufacturing and verified calibration standards to easy in-app guidance and reagent swaps, every detail is engineered to keep your testing consistent, reliable, and effortless.

Small Batch

Small Batch Production

Small batch production allows us to closely monitor quality at every step, helping ensure the results you see reflect real changes in your aquarium  and not variability in the reagent.

Each batch undergoes internal testing against tightly defined specifications, with a focus on minimizing variation between production runs and ensuring consistent behavior inside the Trident testing process.

Reagents are also validated by independent laboratories to confirm proper chemical behavior using established absorption and UV spectroscopy guidelines.

Calibration Solution Reference

Each calibration standard is validated through internal titration testing, real-world Trident verification, and blind third-party ICP analysis. Results from all methods are evaluated together to determine the final values printed on every bottle.  Calibrating your Trident ACM and NP matters to deliver the accuracy your reef depends on.

Internally tested using established titration methods, with results reviewed alongside a professional chemist to confirm target values.

Tested across a bank of Trident units to confirm proper absorption behavior and consistent response within the Trident testing system.

Sent blindly to multiple independent ICP laboratories for elemental analysis, providing an external reference point without bias.

Results from all testing methods are evaluated together, and a qualitative comparison is used to determine the final values printed on each bottle.

Clear Labeling
Clear and Concise Labeling

Every box of Trident and Trident NP reagents clearly displays a Use By Date, so you know exactly when the reagents should be installed to deliver the performance and results you expect.

This is the date by which the reagents must be installed in your Trident system to ensure proper performance and accuracy based on the default test schedule for your Trident. (ACM= 4 times per day / NP = 1 time per day)

The Use By Date is calculated from the original manufacture date:

  • Trident (Alk, Ca, Mg) reagents: 18 months from manufacture date

  • Trident NP (NO3, PO4) reagents: 8 months from manufacture date

Between June 2025 and January 2026, some ACM Reagent kits were labeled with an incorrect “Use By” date. This printing error may cause the kit to appear expired sooner than intended.

Please use the LOT code lookup tool below to verify the correct date.

Note: In the event of a discrepancy, the “Use By” dates shown on the reagent bottles should be considered accurate.

Easy Reagent Swapping
Easy Reagent Swaps

Switching to a fresh set of reagents is quick and straightforward. Just run the Reagent Change task in Apex Fusion and follow the step-by-step prompts, including built-in instructions and videos, to get back to testing with confidence.

With Every Box of Reagents

Trident

Two Bottles of Reagent A that delivery approximately 240 Alkalinity Tests based on the default testing schedule of 4 tests per day.  One bottle will last for 30 days once opened and is changed to the second bottle using the Task in Apex Fusion called “Trident ACM Reagent A Replacement.”

One Bottles of Reagent B that approximately delivers part of the 120 Calcium/Magnesium Tests based on the default testing schedule of 2 tests per day.  One bottle will last for 60 days once opened and when empty easily swap to a new kit using the Apex Fusion Task “Trident ACM Reagent Replacement.”

One Bottles of Reagent C that approximately delivers part of the 120 Calcium/Magnesium Tests based on the default testing schedule of 2 tests per day.  One bottle will last for 60 days and when empty easily swap to a new kit using the Apex Fusion Task “Trident ACM Reagent Replacement.”

Given the shelf-life of the ACM Reagent, it is also sold in a cost-effective six month variant.  That includes three times as much reagent as the 2-month variant at a reduced price.  Which means- 6 bottles of Reagent A and 3 bottles of Reagent B and C.

Trident NP

One Bottle of Reagent 1 that approximately delivers part of the 60 Nitrate/Phosphate Tests based on the default testing schedule of 1 tests per day.  One bottle will last for 60 days once opened and when empty easily swap to a new kit using the Apex Fusion Task “Trident NP Reagent Replacement.”

One Bottle of Reagent 2 that approximately delivers part of the 60 Nitrate/Phosphate Tests based on the default testing schedule of 1 tests per day.  One bottle will last for 60 days once opened and when empty easily swap to a new kit using the Apex Fusion Task “Trident NP Reagent Replacement.”

Part of Reagent 3 that delivers one aspect of the 60 Nitrate/Phosphate Tests based on the default testing schedule of 1 tests per day.   Reagent 3a is to be mixed with Reagent 3b when installing reagents.   One bottle will last for 60 days and when empty easily swap to a new kit using the Apex Fusion Task “Trident NP Reagent Replacement.”

Part of Reagent 3 that delivers one aspect  of the 60 Nitrate/Phosphate Tests based on the default testing schedule of 1 tests per day.   Reagent 3B is to be mixed with Reagent 3b when installing reagents.   Mixing instructions can be found in the Task in Apex Fusion called  “Trident NP Reagent Replacement.”

The waste water from the Trident NP is acidic and needs to be neutralized after the test is complete.  The Waste Neutralizing powder is mixed with water and deposited in the waste container (HDPE Class 2).  After the waste water is neutralized it can be safely discarded down the drain as described in the Task in Apex Fusion “Trident NP Reagent Replacement.”

A set of nitrile safety gloves are included for safe handling of the reagents.  While not much more acidic than some common house-hold cleaning solutions, the reagent kit should be handled with care.
